A Little More About Us

The ALMaS (Autonomous Loco-Manipulation Systems) Group at WPI is committed to pioneering advancements in legged robotics and mobile manipulation. By integrating autonomous locomotion and manipulation (loco-manipulation) using advanced control and machine learning techniques, we are addressing the critical challenges in enabling robots to perform tasks requiring both mobility and precise handling. Our research is focused on developing practical and versatile systems with applications in industrial automation, disaster response, and space exploration, striving to enhance robot performance in a variety of real-world environments.

Our team is dedicated to improving robot autonomy and adaptability through innovative design and control strategies. By refining mechanisms for stability, agility, and dexterity, and employing perceptive control techniques and sim-to-real learning, we aim to optimize robot behaviors and decision-making processes. These efforts ensure our robots are capable of tackling complex tasks in diverse settings. We are actively seeking collaboration with sponsors and welcoming new students to join our mission.
