A Little More About Us

At the ALMaS (Autonomous Loco-Manipulation Systems) Group at WPI, we're pushing the boundaries of mobile manipulation. Our research combines autonomous locomotion with skilled manipulation, enabling robots to move intelligently and interact effectively with the world around them.

We develop adaptable, high-performance systems that can navigate complex environments and handle delicate tasks. From industrial automation and disaster response to space exploration, our robots are designed to operate where humans can’t—or shouldn’t—go.

With deep expertise in legged robotics and a growing focus on general mobile manipulation, we integrate innovative mechanical design, advanced control strategies, and machine learning to expand what autonomous robots can achieve. Our work includes novel mechanisms, sim-to-real learning, perceptive control, and the pursuit of greater agility, stability, and decision-making in the real world.

We welcome collaborations with industry and academic partners, and are always looking for motivated students to join our team. To connect with us, reach out at mmaghelih@wpi.edu.
